However, it is a fact that issues are bound to happen in the long run. Goodman air conditioners are appreciated around the world because of their high quality and reliability.
To facilitate their customers with the best experience, they integrate a Self-Diagnosis feature that displays a specific error code for each issue occurring in the unit. This allows you to know the cause and start doing your thing to take it down. We have gathered all the error codes along with their causes and solutions. Call a technician to inspect the air conditioner if it involves a lot of electronics or you don’t have much knowledge about the suggested solutions.
Goodman air conditioner error code 01
Causes:
This error can be triggered on an AC unit due to many reasons such as:
- The refrigerant level or refrigerant charge in the unit is less than required.
- Clogging or restrictions in the liquid line.
- The blower motor of the indoor unit is malfunctioning or has completely failed.
- The thermostat of the indoor unit is set at an extremely low level.
Solutions:
- Check the refrigerant charge and adjust it according to the outside temperature. Fill the freon gas if needed.
- Remove debris or anything causing a restriction or clogging in the liquid line. Repair or replace the line as needed.
- Check the voltages to the blower motor and ensure they are consistent.
- Check the blower motor for any faults. Repair or replace the motor as needed.
- Raise the set thermostat on the indoor unit. Replace the thermostat if it is malfunctioning.
It is always recommended to turn OFF the air conditioner before applying any of the solutions suggested above. This is because they include electronics and electricity which can be dangerous if not tackled properly.

This error is reported by the air conditioner when/if:
- The unit is experiencing freezing problems.
- Blockages in the condenser coils, blower, filters, or the condenser itself.
- The refrigerant level in the AC unit is less than required.
- The outdoor fan is not working efficiently or the fan motor is faulty.
Solutions:
- Restart the air conditioner after keeping it OFF for about 1-3 minutes. Energizes the unit multiple times.
- Contact a service provider to visit your home and thoroughly clean the AC unit including the blower, filters, condenser, and condenser coils.
- Check the refrigerant level and if it’s below par, get the unit filled with freon gas as required.
- Remove dust, debris, or something stuck in the fan blades. Repair or replace the fan motor if it is faulty.
Goodman air conditioner error code 03
Causes:
This error is triggered mainly because of two reasons.
- There is an intermittent thermostat demand in the AC unit.
- The compressor relay is faulty or has completely stopped working.
When the compressor relay is faulty, the power will not be supplied to the AC compressor and the clutch. So, if the compressor is not starting at all, inspecting the relay is an option.
Solutions:
- The intermittent thermostat demand is a cycle that usually runs for about 20 minutes. Wait and if the error persists, inspect the thermostat for any faults. Replace it if it’s faulty.
- Call a technician to check the compressor relay for any faults or malfunctioning. Replace the relay if defective.
